Still half asleep, you lied in your bed with your eyes shut and your ears perked. There was a sound you  hadn't  heard for well over a month that you desperately wanted to hear. Unfortunately, you heard nothing at all. “This is just ridiculous.”You forced yourself out of your bed with a sigh and walked over to your closed curtains. The bright sunlight was already shining through the cracks, further adding to your dismay. Once the blinds were lifted however, a spark of hope filled your chest. “It's a little bit cloudy out there.”

A loud knock at your door jarred you away from your pleasant thoughts. Though you knew it wouldn't be Suigetsu knocking, you still rushed to the door and quickly swung it open. Standing there with his hands in his pocket, was Shino. “There's a storm coming. Any available ninja are needed to help prepare.”

You looked up at the sky, and raised a brow. “Rain maybe, but I really don't think a few fluffy clouds are going to cause a storm. But I guess if I'm needed, I'll help.” Realizing you were still in your pajamas,  you closed the door slightly and blushed. “Just let me get dressed, I'll find you.” Shino nodded and walked away without a word. “That is one quiet guy.” Rushing back to your room, you washed up and dressed yourself in work appropriate clothes. When you finally stepped outside your house, you noticed everyone running around like it was the end of the world. “Okay then, I think these people might be overreacting.”

“I told you there was a storm coming. Now follow me.” Shino, who had been waiting for you, led you away from your house and straight to the infirmary. “We need to make sure everything's ready in case of an emergency.”

“Right, well I'm here to help.” You really wished you hadn't said that, because the moment you had you were sent straight to work. Every time you thought you had a moment to sit, someone else would need your help with something. As you continued to work, a quiet, but noticeable sound got your attention. You ran to the closest window and placed your hands on the glass. “It's raining.” Knowing no one would let you leave if you asked, you left without telling a single person. The light rain had turned into a complete downpour by the time you got home. Soaked from head to toe, you stripped off your clothing, threw it in the general direction of your dirty clothes and rummaged through your drawers for clean, dry laundry. Not even a minute before you were dressed, the power went out. Though it wasn't even late enough for dinner, the dark rain clouds made it look like it was well past midnight. “Great, I don't even have any candles.”

“You aren't very well prepared, are you? I told you I'd be coming to see you the next time it rained.” Suigetsu walked up to you, completely unfazed by the darkness and grinned. “But I guess not everything's bad about you forgetting. I did get a nice little show out of it.”

“What show?” No sooner had you asked then you knew exactly what he was talking about. “Y-you were here that long? What did you see? You shouldn't have looked you pervert.” Unable to see him, you began smacking at the air, hoping to land at least one blow.

“I'm not sure what you're doing, but you look, a little crazy doing it.” Suigetsu grabbed your hands and brought you closer to him. “To answer your question, I've been here at least an hour.”

“Are you serious?” You didn't let him say anything else. Just the possibility that he'd seen you naked was enough to make you want to strangle him. “Why didn't you say anything? I wouldn't have run around without clothes on if I'd known you were here.” Your face was growing more and more red with each passing second. “I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed.”

Though the darkness kept you from seeing it, Suigetsu was wearing a wide, tormenting smile. “I'm sure you have, but that's not important. We need to find a candle or something, then we can worry about other things.” Grabbing your hand, Suigetsu carefully led you to your couch and helped you sit down. “Wait here, I'll go find matches or some thing.”

Still a little upset, and very embarrassed, you sat down and waited without saying anything at all. The silence made you realize just how bad the storm had gotten. Each time the thunder rolled, your entire house would shake and creak. When the lightening flashed through the windows however, your worry was replaced with confusion. Your sitting room looked strange. From what you could see, nothing was even where it belonged. “Suigetsu, did you rearrange my furniture?”

“Possibly.” Suigetsu's voice sounded like it was coming from your kitchen. You were surprised he'd even been able to hear your question at all, especially with the wind howling outside. “I found some matches, wait there.” A few seconds later, you could see a faint glow walking towards you. “I found this little gas lamp too, but it looks pretty old.”

“It's supposed to be decorative, but if it actually works we can use it.” You strained your eyes, trying hard to see him. “It's not like I have anything else we can use.”

“I know, I looked.” A light sulfuric smell filled the air as Suigetsu lit another match and held it up to the wick. It quickly caught, bringing a surprising amount of light to the small room. “That's better. Now I can actually see you.”

“What in the world did you do to my living room?” The moment you were able to see, you notice the state your house was in. Every single piece of furniture in this room had been moved so that your blankets could be thrown over top of them like some sort of makeshift tent. All of your pillows were on the floor along with at least a half dozen bowls of snacks.

Suigetsu grinned and shuffled his feet like a young child attempting to get out of trouble. “Well, I was bored while I waited for you, so, I thought I'd make is a fort. I got snacks and a movie too, but without power, the movies not exactly going to work.”

“You know, for a murder hungry, sword obsessed evil dude, this was pretty thoughtful.” No longer even a little bit upset with him, you grabbed his hand and crawled into the fort he'd made. “This is much more elaborate than the tents I made when I was five. It's like another whole room in here, complete with snacks and drinks.”

“I don't mean to brag, but I am pretty skilled when it comes to making forts. I think that might be one of the reasons Sasuke keeps me around.” Laying down on his side, Suigetsu propped his head up with his hand and began nibbling on the treats he'd brought. “So, what should we do? We can't watch TV like I had hoped, and it's too dark to go looking for board games or a deck of cards.”

A loud boom of thunder brought an idea to mind. “It's dark, rainy, and a little creepy outside. We have a tent, a fire, and snacks.” Suigetsu started to smile as you spoke, he already knew exactly what you were thinking. “I think this might be the perfect setting for ghost stories. And since I thought of the idea, you have to go first.”

“Are you sure that's a good idea? I can be pretty scary.” With your mouth full of food, you simply gestured him to continue. “Okay, but I promise, you're going to regret it.” Suigetsu cleared his throat, and with a menacing look, began to tell his tale. Less then five minutes into it, you had stopped eating completely and were now just sitting there with your mouth and eyes wide open. “Should I stop? You look a little uncomfortable.” With a wide grin, he slowly started crawling over to you until he was right in front of your face. “Or maybe even, scared.”

You were scared, and not too proud to admit it. Wrapping your arms around him, you buried your face in his neck and shivered. “Where did you hear that story? It was terrifying and you didn't even finish it.”

Suigetsu pulled you onto his lap and held you close, feeling more than a little guilty for frightening you. “I think I read it at a graveyard somewhere. I'm sure it's not true, so don't worry about it.” Even with his reassurance, you were still scared. “Look, it was just a story, besides, I'm here to protect you, remember?”

“I know.” You nodded weakly, but couldn't bring yourself to let go of him. “You're going to leave as soon as the rain slows down though.”

“I don't have to.” Careful not to drop you, Suigetsu rested his head against a pillow and held you on his chest. “I could stay, if you wanted me to.” You nodded again. “Then that's settled, I'll stay until you aren't scared anymore.”

You pulled a blanket over the two of you and smiled up at him without the slightest hint of fear on your face. “Sui, if I stayed scared forever, would you promise to never leave?”

Suigetsu closed his eyes as his cheeks began to turn pink. “You weren't even scared, you little trickster.” He sighed. “I can't stay forever, Sasuke would get mad. But, I don't think he'd mind too much if I stayed half of forever.”

Letting out a tiny, quiet squeal, you squeezed him tight and refused to let him go. “That sounds perfect.”

Can't count the number of times I attempted to make forts like Suigetsu when I was four
