Fire Emblem Seven Minutes in Heaven Donnel

       You waited anxiously for Edward to call your name. Ever since you found out you'd be playing next, you had found it impossible to sit still. You saw him walking back with the last couple. “Finally.” Incapable of waiting even one more second, you hopped to your feet and rushed towards the barrel. By the time Edward arrived, you'd already pulled an ear of corn from inside.

Edward didn't seem to mind your eagerness a bit. “You aren't in a hurry are you?”

Grinning sheepishly, you apologized for your hyper behavior. “Sorry, I guess I'm just a little over excited. It's not every day we get to do something like this.”

Donnel walked up to you and Edward smiling, but already wearing a contagious blush.“I reckon she's right. Why all we're ever doing is training, planning, eating and sleeping. You can't blame the girl for wanting to relax and unwind.”

“Well then go relax and unwind. I'm not stopping you.” Edward nudged the two of you in the right direction. “You know where the tent is, go enjoy yourselves.”

Though Donnel was still speaking, you'd already begun to pull him away from Edward and towards the tent. “We'll sure try. As excited as she is, a reckon it'll be pretty easy.” He quickly turned his attention to you, causing his blush to worsen. “You sure are eager. There ain't something about this game that I don't know is there?”

“No. At least I don't think so.” You pulled him into the tent and sat down close by. “So, what do you want to do? I know we're supposed to get all cuddly, but I'm not sure how willing you are to do that kind of thing. Really I'm okay with just about anything, so long as it doesn't bother you.”

“Shucks, I don't know what to do in here. It just don't seem right, cozying up to a girl I barely know. Why my momma would have a fit if she found out I was acting that way.” Nervous and a little bit confused, Donnel rubbed the back of his head and sighed. “I don't want to ruin your turn though miss, so I suppose whatever you're wanting to do will be just fine.”

He was just too cute to resist. If he wasn't so shy, and already so embarrassed, you would have kissed him. “You're just too sweet, and your accent's absolutely adorable. We don't have to do anything at all, just listening to you talk is wonderful.”

Donnel shook his head, at a complete loss for words. “Hoo-ee miss, you sure do know how to leave a guy speechless. Look at me, just sitting over here blushing like a ninny. Why, I don't think I've ever been so red in my whole life.”

You felt pretty bad for flustering him so terribly, but you really didn't know how to stop. Everything little thing you'd said only seemed to add to his embarrassment. “I'm sorry, I really don't mean to make things so awkward.  I just can't help it. I tend to speak before thinking, and as a result, things often get strained.”

“H-hey now, don't go saying you're sorry. You ain’t done nothing wrong. Besides, a girl shouldn't ever have to apologize.” Smiling wide, Donnel gave your hand a little squeeze. “I'd reckon our time's about up, wouldn't you?”

You nodded. “Probably. Edward might have forgotten. I think the game's wearing at him.”

“Probably so. Well, I  suppose we better get going then.” Quickly standing to his feet, Donnel held out his hand and helped you up. “I hope I ain't using bad manners by asking you this, but I'd really like to get to know you better. You seem like a sweet girl, and if there's one thing my momma taught me, it's that a person's attitude is their most important trait. Well that, and there ain't no better way to get a hog clean than to wash with buttermilk, but that's not important right now.”

Trying not to giggle at his mother's words of wisdom, you nodded. “I'd love that Donnel. Your mom sounds like a pretty smart lady, I'd like to meet her one day.”

Donnel grinned from ear to ear. “If this dang war ever ends, I'll take you to her, promise.”
