"Hey, what are you still doing in here?" Half tripping over her own two feet with excitement, Pidge stumbled into your room and slammed her hand against the wall. "Matt's back, and you know he's going to want to see you. Hurry up and move it!" Rushing off just as quickly as she'd appeared, Pidge hurried down the hall, leaving you behind.

"Huh?" She had spoken so quickly, you had to take a moment to piece together her words. When you finally realized what she'd said, you wasted no time following after her. "I'm coming, wait up." Though you had more or less ran to the dock, you were still the very last one there. By the time you did get there, Matt was already standing outside of the tiny ship, happily talking with the others. Despite the fact that you were obviously glad to see him, something inside you made you hesitate to talk to, or even walk up to him. Still, you were glad to see him back, and uninjured.

“There you are.” Noticing you only seconds after you entered the room, the smile already present on Matt's face grew wider. “I was starting to think you didn't care that I was back.”

“I've been here.” Wishing he hadn't had to make a scene of you being there, you kept your answers short and hoped the focus would go back to being on whatever it was on before you had entered. “I just didn't want to interrupt.”

As the group that had gathered started to disperse, Matt made a beeline to where you were standing. The closer he got to you, the more excited he seemed to be. “Just wait till you see all this stuff I brought back with me.” Signaling to a small sack he carried on his back, Matt continued to give just a little bit too much of his attention to you. “I'm not even sure what half of it is, but trust me, it's still really cool.”

One hand lazily placed on his hip, Lance cut in with a loud voice, nudging Pidge as he spoke. “Well I think we all know who he's happiest to see.”

“Mhm.” More than willing to go along with Lance's teasing, Pidge nodded in agreement. “You can say that again.”

Blushing slightly, Matt let out a quiet sigh. “Come on Pidge, don't start this again.”

Arms crossed, Pidge lifted her nose into the air. Her expression an odd mix of emotions, you really couldn't tell if she was upset with Matt, or just using this as another excuse to fluster and embarrass him. “I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just agreeing with the facts.”

“You hear that, Matt? The facts don't lie.” Backing up Pidge without question, Lance snapped in a way that could only be described as sassy. His arm now around her shoulders, Lance began leading Pidge away from you and Matt. “Let's go buddy, we've got a date with the Gameflux II.”

Not sure if the two of you should be stopping them or not, you looked to Matt. “Do you think she was actually upset?”

“Hmm? Oh, no way.” Shaking his head, Matt quickly put your worries to rest. “If she was, we'd both know it.” Though he laughed at his words, you could tell that he was actually being completely serious. Not wanting to dwell on the thought of his sister's wrath, Matt took your hand in his and began tugging you away from the dock and towards the main hall. “Anyway, come on. You're going to love some of this stuff.”

“Alright, I'm coming.” Matt had done nothing more than take your hand, but you could already feel a slight warmth spreading throughout your cheeks. When you realized just where he was taking you, that subtle heat grew into a blazing inferno. Of all the places he could have taken you, why did it have to be his room?

Apparently unaware of just how embarrassed you really were, Matt led you inside and quickly began shoving things off of his bed. “I hope you're ready for this.” Untying the end of the back, he flipped it over and let the contents fall to his mattress. “Ta-da!”

“Oh wow, that's a lot of... umm...” You tried to find a word for the strange mixture of odds and ends, but nothing came to mind. “Stuff.”

“I know.” Nodding proudly, he took a seat on his bed and signaled for you to do the same. “So tell me, what caught your eye first?”

Now seated across from him, you let your eyes scan over the items. The majority of what he'd brought back just looked like normal rocks, but there were a few things that stuck out. The first, was a badly rusted item that looked like it might have once served as a key. “Probably this thing.” Lifting the object from the pile, you held it out to Matt. “Is it a key or something?”

“Not quite. That's actually a pretty interesting piece of technology.” Eager to explain just what this item was, Matt began rambling about its uses, why it was important and just how it was to be used. And while you were sure his explanation would have made sense to someone more tech savvy, you honestly had no idea what he was talking about. It didn't matter whether you understood him or not though, you were just glad to be sending time with him. A few minutes into his accidental lecture, Matt's words came to a sudden halt. All too aware of how long he'd been talking, and the fact that he probably wasn't making any sense to you, a sheepish look covered his face. “You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?”

Giggling softly, you shook your head. Even if you had wanted to pretend you understood, you doubted you could have pulled it off. “Nope, not a clue.”

Sighing at his own actions, Matt placed the object back on his bed and apologized. “Sorry, I was probably boring you to death.”

“Nah, it's okay.” Smiling warmly, you waved off his apology. “I don't have to understand. I'm just glad your back and I can spend time with you again. Besides, it's kind of cute how passionate you get when talking about this kind of stuff.” Having been just a little too open with your words, you searched the pile for a distraction. Lifting a shiny stone that seemed to change colors depending on the light from the pile, you held it out to him.“Tell me about this one.”

“What?” Eyes wide and cheeks flushed, Matt made no attempt to take the stone from you. He had heard your last sentence loud and clear, and there was no way a shiny space pebble was going to distract him from it. “Where did that come from?”

Your face growing warm once more, you turned your eyes away from his. “I'm just being honest.”

“Well yeah, I guess.” Nervously rubbing the back of his neck, Matt couldn't escape the now awkward atmosphere that you had unwittingly created. “But it's my job to make you blush, not the other way around.”

“I don't remember that being your job at all.” He didn't really make you blush that much, did he? Honestly, you were red-faced quite often when you were around him, but saying it was his job to make you blush was a bit much. “When did that happen?”

Your question caused a scoff to escape his throat, suggesting you should already know the answer. “It's always been that way.”

“But why?” Narrowing your eyes at him slightly, you scooted towards the center of his bed, closing a bit of the distance between the two of you. “Did I agree to that, because I don't think I did.”

Though his own appearance was becoming more and more flushed as he spoke, Matt was still doing his best to act like he wasn't embarrassed. It wasn't working, and the fact that he was so dedicated to this was actually a little funny. “No, you didn't agree to it, it's just an understood because I'm better at making you blush than you are at making me blush.”

“Are you sure about that?” Brushing your fingertips over his cheek, you finally pointed out just how red he was. “You're pretty red right now.”

“Of course I'm sure.” Capturing your hand in his, Matt laced his fingers with yours and leaned in close. His embarrassment now completely gone, you couldn't help but wonder if he had only been acting before. Now looking both playful, and serious, he wiggled his brows at you. “And I'll prove it.” All it took for him to prove his point, without any shadow of doubt being left behind, was a little kiss on the corner of your lips. Though hardly any more than a little peck, his kiss had been more than enough to quicken your heartbeat and turn your whole upper body red. Placing his palm on your cheek, Matt couldn't help but laugh. “See, I told you I was better at it.” As he moved to kiss you again, the sound of someone clearing their throat interrupted him. Without even looking, you both knew who that someone was. “P-Pidge, why?”

“Because Shiro sent me to get you, that's why.” Standing in the doorway, Pidge feigned disappointment. “Man, you can't even show her your space rocks without it ending in kissing.” Shaking her head in an attempt to hide her amusement, she sighed. “You've got it bad.”
