“Another mission accomplished and we're both still alive. And you were afraid I'd hurt myself.” It wasn't a real mission, of course. The Akatsuki would never have allowed you to join in on any official missions, but it had been just as dangerous, especially for Hidan. Honestly, this so called mission was nothing more than an excuse for you to go outside and stretch your legs, but it was more than welcomed. After brushing yourself off, just to make sure you were still in one piece, you looked up at Hidan and smiled a wide, proud smile. “I didn't get so much as a little, tiny scratch, which is a lot more than what you can say.”

“Yeah, I know that.” Clutching tightly to a large, open wound he'd gotten during your fight with a couple of rogue ninja's, Hidan sneered. “Don't rub it in, woman. You're just going to tick me off.”

“I'm not rubbing anything in, I'm just pointing out the facts.” Kneeling beside, the motionless group, you quickly relieved your foes of any valuables they might have on hand. “They won't be needing this anymore. Now, let's hurry and get you home so Kakuzu can stitch you up. I wouldn't want you to lose an arm because I'm over here being slow.”

“You're just as bad as Kakuzu, searching bodies for spare change like that. It's no wonder the two of you get along so well.” He snorted. “Besides, this wouldn't be the first time I've lost an arm, so there's no hurry.”

“True, but you can only be stitched up so many times before your body gives up on you. Now let's go. There's nothing else for us to do here anyway.” Leaving the defeated group of ninjas behind, you locked arms with Hidan's good arm and started the walk back to the hideout. Once back, you stepped through the creaky wooden door and called out to Kakuzu for help. “Kakuzu, Hidan hurt himself, again. He's going to need stitches, and a lot of them by the looks of things.” There was no answer. “Hmm, that's weird. It looks like he isn't here.”

“Great. That's just great. He's probably out on another hit or something stupid like that.” Cursing loudly, Hidan slammed his fist into the wall and proceeded to yell. “Every time I need him, he's gone. Some partner he is.”

Sure that his, worse than usual mood was due to the pain he had to be in, you tried your best to simply ignore it. “Calm down before you hurt yourself even worse. I'm sure I can stitch you up at least well enough to hold until he gets back.”

“You expect me to trust you to do something like that?” Shaking his head, Hidan let out a psychotic sounding laugh. “I don't think so.” Wincing slightly, he held his hurt arm even closer to his body. “The thought of you with any sort of pointy object scares me worse than losing an arm. I think I'll pass on getting help from you and just take my chances.”

“Oh please, you're being over dramatic. For someone who stabs himself in the chest, at least once a week, you sure are making a big deal out of this.” Scoffing at his underhanded insult, you shoved him away from you and set off to find something to with which to close the wound. “Stop your whining and sit down somewhere already. You're bleeding on the floor and I am not about to clean it up.”

“Quit your nagging woman. My arms holding on by a thread and you're worried about a little bit of blood.” Mumbling and cursing under his breath, Hidan stepped away from you and dropped down to a nearby seat.

“Your arm isn't that bad. You're being a big baby and exaggerating, that's all. Knowing you, that cut probably won't even leave a scar. You'll be fine.” Having found a few large bandages, and something to stitch him up with, you sat down next to Hidan and took a deep breath in. Honestly, the wound was impressive, and probably would have caused any normal person to faint due to just how much it was bleeding. You didn't tell him this, however, simply because you didn't want him to know just how bad it was. If he knew, he would make an even bigger deal out of than he already was. “Now, hold still, and don't whine. If you start jerking your arm around and throwing a fit, I'm never going to be able to do this.”

Already tensing up in preparation for the pain to come, Hidan snorted. “As long as you're no rougher than Kakuzu I shouldn't jerk around at all.”

“Good.” Carefully cleaning the area around the still bleeding wound, you nodded. “Now think of something pleasant, I'm about to start.” Afraid the smell, feel and look of the blood would cause you to get dizzy before you could finish, you wasted no time starting. The second your needle touched his skin, your heart started pounding and your hands started to sweat. Not wanting Hidan to know how nervous you were about this, you swallowed hard and pushed on without saying a word. Though you were as gentle, and as careful as you could possibly be, Hidan still groaned each time your needle pressed through his skin.

He tried to keep himself quiet at first, but about a minute later, he snapped at you. “Are you trying to hurt me? Why don't you just cut off my whole stinking arm? That would probably hurt less than what you're doing.” Fully aware that his cold, angry tone wasn't directed at you, but the pain, you decided it best not to answer him. Gritting his teeth to keep himself from yelling, Hidan managed to force out a weak apology. “Sorry.”

“It's okay.” Not at all upset with him, you brushed off the apology as if he'd never yelled. “I guess it is kind of my fault that you're in this position. Even if you were being a total showoff and not paying any attention to what you were doing earlier.”

Brow twitching and jaw clenched, Hidan tried to make conversation in the hopes that it would take his mind off of what you were doing. “How's that?”

“How were you being a show off, or how is it my fault?” Already sure he knew the answer to your first question, you focused on the second. “I was bored and complaining about never getting to do anything. You took me out to shut me up. Had I not complained, this wouldn't have happened.”

“Nah, I've taken you on plenty of these little mission things since then. This is just a freak accident.” The awkward, almost embarrassed quality of his voice made you suspect that his pride might actually be hurting him worse than his physical injury. “Still, you could stop complaining so stinking much. That would be great.”

“Noted.” Still struggling with the gruesome sight before you, you nodded weakly. “Now, unless you want me to stitch your arm to your forehead, shut up. I'm trying to focus.” Heeding your words, Hidan went almost completely silent, minus a few groans, hisses and one particularly vile bout of profanity. Still, that was to be expected, and didn't harm your focus all that much. “There, the hard part's done. I've just got to clean and bandage you up.” No longer so focused, you realized that he was staring at you. Unsure how long he'd been staring at you, you felt your cheeks growing warm. “Why are you staring at me like that?”

No longer paying any attention to the pain in his arm, Hidan smirked. “Staring like what?”

“Never mind. I must be imagining things.” With his arm now as patched up as you could manage, you rose from your seat and eagerly washed yourself from the tips of your fingers all the way up to your elbows. “Much better.”

“Hey, come here.” Silently stepping behind you, Hidan grabbed you by your wrist and roughly pulled you to his chest. He'd used so much force, your body slammed against his, temporarily leaving you breathless. Before you'd managed to regain your composure, he placed his hand on the nape of your neck and kissed you. The kiss, while meaningful and heartfelt, was far too short. Suddenly looking adorably awkward, Hidan turned his gaze away from you and opened his mouth to speak. “I...” He faltered after only one word. “You know.”

Perfectly aware of what he was trying to say, even if he was too proud to say it, you nodded. “I, you know, you too.” Blushing a bit worse after your own admission, you closed your eyes and sighed. “Very much.”

“Good.” Grinning attractively, he tangled his fingers in your hair and pulled you close for another kiss. Paying little attention to his injury, Hidan wrapped his newly mended arm around you and held your body firmly against his.

Actually a bit worried that he might hurt himself, you broke off the kiss soon after it had started and pressed your palm to his cheek. “If you don't calm down, you're going to ruin all that hard work I just did. And that would really upset me.” A bit flustered from his kiss, you cleared your throat and changed the subject. “Also, you need to clean this floor up. It looks like someone died in here.”

Refusing to let you go, Hidan scoffed at your request. “If I'm healthy enough to clean the floor, I'm healthy enough to kiss you.” Holding you even tighter than before Hidan lowered his lips to your neck and softly kissed you there. “Now, don't stop me again.”
