It had been a long couple of days since you'd last seen the sunshine. The skies had been filled with dark, wispy snow clouds and a heavy down pouring of snow. Today, however, it looked as if the blizzard was finally over. “The sun's out today. I wonder if it's actually warm outside.” You walked outside, without a coat or even shoes, hoping that the bright sun would have warmed things up. “Nope, it's still freezing out here.” As you turned around to go back inside, you heard a strange, but familiar flapping sound. “Mr. Puffin?”

Sure enough, it was him. He was flying to you in a rather hurried manner with something hanging from his beak. Once he reached you, he dropped the item in your hand and perched himself on the railing of your porch. “Take that, and don't ask any questions. If Icy shows up, I was never here. You got that?”

Hearing an animal speak was weird and rather hard to get used to. For this reason, you didn't ask any questions, you just accepted what he said. “Yeah, I guess.”

“Good. Now I better go before he sees me. Don't let me down.” Trusting you'd keep his secret, Mr. Puffin readied to fly. It took him only seconds to fly off of your porch and out of view.

“Well, that was a little, different.” Curious as to what he would have brought you, you opened your hand and looked down at what he'd given you. It was a charm bracelet, with rather unusual charms. “Today just keeps getting more confusing.” You laughed. “Maybe I should have stayed in bed.” Once again, you started to go inside. For the second time, you were halted from returning to your warm home. This time however, it was Iceland that was stopping you.

“Wait, don't go inside yet.” Out of breath and looking slightly annoyed, he rushed to your porch and clung to the railing as if he might fall over. “Have you seen my puffin? He took something of mine and I am needing to get it back.”

Completely forgetting the earlier promise you made not to tell Iceland, you nodded. “Yes, he gave me this. Is it yours?”

The sight of the little silver charm bracelet caused his already pink cheeks to redden. “Yes, that is what I was looking for.” With a loud, almost depressed sigh, he stood up straight and awkwardly took back his possession. “This was supposed to be a gift for you. I was going to be giving it to you, eventually.” Iceland was always a little awkward, so his behavior didn't worry you a bit. “I'm sorry the surprise was ruined.”

“Don't worry about it.” Curious about what the charms meant, you offered a solution that would benefit both of you. “You know, you're here right now anyway, so why don't you just give it to me? I can even pretend to be surprised if you want me to.”

Iceland seemed a little unsure, but eventually nodded. “Give me your wrist.” Happy your idea had worked, you extended your arm and watched as he carefully fastened it around your wrist. “There, now it's yours. Do you like it?”

For some reason, the idea of him giving you a gift made you feel extremely special. “I love it.” You quickly brought him into a tight hug and kissed his cheek. “But the charms are kind of, well weird. Is there a reason you picked these particular ones out?”

“You aren't getting it?” Your question left him looking a bit shocked.

“Sorry, I guess I'm not.” You blushed. “I am a little slow sometimes, you know. Would you mind explaining it to me?”

“I guess not.” Taking your hand in his, he lifted up one of the charms and began his explanation. “This is a piece of licorice. I choose this one, because it was the item I used for that game. So it's kind of what brought us together.” His face was quickly turning a deep red, and he still had another three charms to explain.

Now that you had the first explanation, you were sure you could figure out what the others meant. If he hadn't looked so adorable, you would have let him stop. “Oh, I get it. That makes sense.”

He nodded, trying hard not to show his nervousness. “This is a paintbrush, obviously. I chose it because of that one time we were paining things on your walls.”

Sure that you now understood fully, you decided to guess at what the next one meant. “Then the little waterfall charm is for the time we went to the hot springs together?” He nodded again. “That's so cute. You must have really put a lot of thought into choosing these. You know, you actually a lot more thoughtful than you let on.”

“I thought, that when we did something memorable together, we could get a charm to remember it by.” Growing more embarrassed by the second, he began to shuffle his feet in the fresh snow. “I'm not wanting to forget the time I spend with you.”

“You just keep getting sweeter.” You threw your arms around his shoulders and hugged him again. When you did however, you noticed a tiny heart shaped charm he had yet to explain. Curious as to why hadn't even brought that charm up, you ended the hug and asked him. “What about this one? I know it's a heart, but does it mean anything, special?”

Iceland looked away from you and snorted. “I'm not wanting to explain that one to you. You'll just have to be figuring it out for yourself.”

“Well, fine then.” A heart could mean a lot of things, love of course being the most obvious. Coming from Iceland though, you honestly doubted it was that simple. “Your name's on the heart.” Suddenly, it hit you. Your face burst into a terrible, unstoppable blush. “I-I have your heart?”

“See, that wasn't so very difficult to figure out.” Still refusing to look at you, Iceland stared down at the ground. “You're not wearing shoes. You're going to get sick.”

You were so excited you didn't even hear his last comment. “This is, without a doubt, the sweetest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me. I'm so happy I could roll around in the snow until I die of hypothermia.” Unable to control your happiness, you roughly grabbed his face in your hands and kissed him square on the mouth. “O-oh, but I want to do the same for you. We need to get you a matching charm bracelet.”

“I've already got one.” Rolling up his sleeve, Iceland revealed an identical bracelet, the only difference was that the heart charm was missing.

Confused, you tilted your head and gave a lost expression. “Where's the heart?”

“I can't give myself your heart.” He blushed, “You have to do that yourself.”

“Then we need to go get my heart.” Excited and impatient, you tugged him into your house and quickly started to put on your shoes. “Come on, I'll get ready so we can go.”

“Please, I'm needing you to calm down.” He dug into one of his pockets and pulled out the needed charm. “Here.” Blushing for the hundredth time in the last half hour, he placed the heart in the palm of your hand. “I already bought this, just in case you were wanting to give it to me.”

“Perfect.” You attached the heart to his bracelet and smiled happily before kissing him again. “There, now you have my heart. You better not lose it, throw it away or break it either. If you even try, I'll have to get Mr. Puffin to kill you.”

Iceland chuckled quietly as he brought you back into his arms. “You have my word.”
