The bright morning sunlight streamed through your thick curtains onto your bed. The pillows soft, warm and blankets felt like fluffy clouds cradling your entire body. You could feel the heaviness of someones arm draped over your waist and their slow breathing on your neck.  A sleepy smile spread over your face the moment you realized what this meant. Sweden was in your bed, again. This had become a common occurrence, and a welcomed one too. Being very careful, you turned over to face him. You snuggled yourself close to him and gently kissed his nose. “Sweden, what are you doing in my bed again? Did you forget where you lived?”

He let out a tired groan and pressed his face into the pillow. Just like you, he wasn't at all ready to get out of bed. After allowing himself a moment or two to wake up, he answered your question in a gruff, quiet voice. “No.”

“Then why are you even here? You do have a perfectly good bed at your home. I know this, because I've slept in it a time or two. It's a pretty comfortable bed too.” You brushed his messy hair back and kissed him again. “Aren't you going to answer me?”

Knowing you weren't going to let him sleep anymore, Sweden gave up on resting and sat up in your bed. Still a little dazed from being asleep, he clumsily searched your nightstand for his glasses. “I like your bed better.”

“Well then, I guess we'll just have to get you a bed like mine. I can show you where I bought this one, if I can even remember that is.” You really needed to stop teasing him, but it was too fun to quit just yet. He was always so groggy when he first woke up, it was adorable and his reactions to your teasing made him even cuter.

“It won't be the same. I like your bed because you're in it.” He said it so seriously, it was hard for you not to laugh. He swung his legs over the side of your bed and hung his head. “I don't know why you enjoy tormenting me so. Surely there are better things for you to do.”

Before he could stand, you threw your arms around his shoulders and pulled him back down to where he was awkwardly laying on you. “Tell me one more little thing and then I'll stop teasing you, I promise. When are you going to buy yourself a robe? You've stretched mine out like crazy. It doesn't even fit me right anymore.”

Now a bit more awake than before, Sweden was more careful of what he said. “Never. This robe smells like you.” Even with your arms around him, he had no problem sitting back up. “I'll buy you a new robe, I'd like to keep this one.”

“Well, someone is in a seriously sweet mood.” Still clinging to him, you kissed his cheek and nuzzled your nose in his neck. A very strange, uncomfortable feeling suddenly filled the room. Neither of you were speaking. It was so quiet you could hear each other's breathing. You didn't know what had caused this to happen, and you surely didn't know how to stop it. “Well, this is weird. You feel it too, right?”

“Yes.” He nodded, but said nothing else.

You slowly slid away from him and sat down on your bed. “I wonder why everything's so, awkward. This has never happened before, but it's like I don't know what I should be saying.”

Sweden nodded again. Still facing away from you, he said something that made you doubt your hearing. “I love you. I want you to be my wife.”

Though he'd never said it verbally, you already knew full well that he loved you. He expressed it in many different ways, and he did so very often. It was really just the part about being his wife that took you by surprise. “Please tell me you're not teasing me just to get back at me. Because that would just be a beyond cruel thing for you to do to me.”

“No, I'm being completely serious. I'll say it again if you'd like me to, though you should believe me already.” There wasn't anything in his voice that made you not believe him. “Would that make you more sure of my honesty?”

The smile on your face was one of pure joy, you doubted anything could erase it. “Yes, say it again. But this time, I want you to look at me.”

“Of course.” Sweden stood up from the bed, and turned around to look at you. Once you saw his face, you knew why he'd been hiding it. His cheeks, ears and even neck were a bright, telling red. He took a deep breath and looked down at you with a look in his eyes that made you want to squeal. “I love you, and I want to make you my wife.”

The second the words had left his lips, you sprung to your feet and hugged him so tightly, you thought you might never let go. “I love you too Sweden. I know I've told you before, but I really love you, like a lot.” You pressed your face into his chest, feeling like you might actually cry. Your voice quickly became weepy, making it hard for you to talk. “I-I'd love to marry you, I really would.” The tears started to run down your cheeks onto his chest. “I swear I'm crying because I'm happy. W-why do we even cry when we're happy? It makes no sense.” You sniffled, trying to pull yourself together. “D-d you already get the ring? I want it if you did.”

“I haven't purchased it yet. I was sure you would say no. I'm sorry, we can get it later if you'd like.” Sweden tangled his hand in your hair and held you against him. “I could answer that, but I'm rather sure that you don't actually want the answer.”

“No, it's okay. I don't mind waiting. I would never have said no though.” With a bit of effort, you managed to bring your joyful tears to a halt. “And you're right about the happy crying thing. I don't really need to know the answer. I was just babbling again.” You lifted your head up and smiled. “Sorry I got so ridiculously emotional, so fast. I just really wasn't expecting this to happen, especially not first thing in the morning.”

“That's why I asked when I did.” He smiled, just slightly as he pressed the palm of his hand to your red cheek. “I wanted to catch you off guard.”

“Hey, you actually managed to make up a little joke just then.” You chuckled, more at the fact that he'd tried to make a joke in the first place than at the actual joke itself. “I'm proud of you, that one was actually kind of funny.”

“I try.” He brought you close to him once more for a long, sweet kiss. Every time he tried to end it, you'd pull him back to you. This was the kind of thing that only happened once in a life time. You wanted every single second to last as long as it could. Realizing this, Sweden lifted you into his arms, crawled back in bed and snuggled you into his lap. You didn't know how long the two of you sat in each others embrace, but it really didn't matter. You would have stayed there forever. Sweden pulled away from you only to speak. “I think it would be best if we didn't get out of bed today.”

“I agree.” You smiled wide, no longer blushing, just happy to have him near you. “We might have to get something to eat though. All this excitement made me really hungry. Other than eating and stuff though, I can't see any reason why we'd ever need to leave this bed again.”

“Sounds good to me. Hmm, that must be why I'm hungry too.” Despite that, he pulled you on to his chest and ran his fingers up and down your back causing a tingling sensation all over your body. He kissed the top of your head and spoke in a very quiet voice, one that you could barely hear. “Thank you.”

You pecked his cheek and smiled up at him. "Don't you go getting all emotional on me Sweden, that's my job."

He nodded slowly, already drifting back off to sleep. "I'll try to keep that in mind."

Awww. That was cute 😁

When I got engaged, my answer came out with a question mark.... "...yes...?" Like my brain couldn't process what was actually happening 😂
