Stop the Act Shigure x Reader

        It was just before lunch when you heard someone knock at your door. If you had known who it was, you never would have opened that door. Unfortunately, it was far too late for that. Shigure had pushed his way into your house and was refusing to leave. This  had happened before on multiple occasions, but you'd never been as irritated by it as you were right now. You were shoving and pushing at him with every bit of your might, but he just wouldn't budge. “You can't just barge in here and refuse to leave. This is my house, now get out before I get even more upset.”

Shigure crossed his arms and stood his ground. He was completely determined not to leave your side. “I'm not leaving you until I'm ready to leave. Now stop shoving at me like that, you're going to leave bruises all over me.”

Your arms were actually tired from all the pushing and pulling you'd been doing. You had no idea how he wasn't completely exhausted. “I wouldn't have to shove at you if you would just go like I told you to do. I don't want you here, I don't even like you. Now again, go away.”

Dropping his head down to his chest, Shigure let out a loud sigh.  “I really do wish you would stop this act. You're not at all convincing. Why are you so determined to hate me?”

“What are you talking about?” You knew exactly what he was talking about, but you couldn't let him know that. For some reason you just weren't willing to admit that he was right. You wanted to, but you just couldn't bring yourself to do it. “You're delusional or something, just get out.”

“How long do you plan on acting like this towards me? It really is getting ridiculous, not to mention annoying.” This was the most serious you'd ever seen Shigure. “Look, if you really want me to leave, I will. But don't expect me to come back. Your playing hard to get was cute at the beginning, but now it's just depressing me.”

You clenched your fists and tightly closed your eyes. “I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not playing hard to get.

“Fine. I suppose I was completely wrong about you then.” Shigure smiled, but was obviously hurt. “Well, there's no need for me to go around chasing after something I'll never have then is there? I'm sorry I bothered you. I'll go.” He turned away from you and walked straight to your door. Without another word, he stepped outside and closed the door behind him.

He was gone. Why had you let him leave? Why had you even wanted him to leave? You dropped onto the floor and cradled your head in your hands. “What's wrong with me? I'm a complete idiot.” Angry with yourself, you Slammed your fists on the ground and tried to clear your head. “I-I can't let him leave. I've just got to ignore my pride and tell him the truth.” The words you spoke were much easier said than done, but you knew you had to do it. You pushed yourself onto your feet and rushed for your door. Swinging it open, you ran straight out of your house and directly into Shigure. You backed away slightly and looked up at him sheepishly. “W-what are you still doing here?”

Shigure brushed off his shirt and looked down at you with a knowing smile. “I waited for you. I know I shouldn't have, but I knew you'd come back eventually.”

“Oh, I see.” The fact that he really did know the truth made things even more awkward and frustrating. “Look, I'm really sorry that I'm such a jerk to you all the time. I have a real problem letting people see certain emotions.”

There was a little sparkle in his eyes as he tried his best not to start teasing you. If you didn't know better, you'd think that he'd already forgotten all about what had just happened. “Oh, you have a problem all right, no doubt about that.”

With your face growing red and your legs getting weak from your nervousness, you really just wanted him to be quiet so you could get this over with. “Shigure, I'm trying to be serious here. I can't be serious when you're making jokes about things.”

“Right you are. I'm sorry. Please, do continue.” Shigure laced his fingers together in front of him and gave you an innocent look. “I'm listening, I promise.”

“I'm sure.” You tried to calm your breathing, but it only got worse. “Look, you were right, I like you. I don't know why I like you because you're annoying, pushy and you don't listen to anything I say. Still, I like you, and I like you a lot.”

“What a coincidence, I like you too. I also don't know why this is, because you're an overly emotional, confusing, sensitive nut case.” He smiled. “But I guess being the kind, forgiving, understanding man that I am, I just choose to overlook those character flaws.” He pressed his hand to his heart and sighed to himself. “It's both a curse and a gift being me.”

His egotistical little speech left you scoffing, but it also made you feel a lot less uncomfortable about everything. “You're definitely not humble Shigure. So don't you even think about adding that to your list of wonderful qualities.”

“Oh, but I am humble, just think of all the things I could have said but didn't. But I suppose that isn't important now. Is there something else you wanted to tell me, or was that it?”

There was a lot more you could say to him, but it really wouldn't have accomplished all that much. Besides, you'd admitted more than enough things to him today. Anything else you wanted to tell him could wait a while. “I guess that was it.”

“Good, because I was getting tired of waiting around for you. Now that you've finally admitted to liking me, there's something I'd like to do. Last time I did this you seemed to enjoy it, so I don't think it should be a problem if I do it again now.” Before you could ask him what he was talking about, he'd taken you in his arms. “If want me to stop, speak now, or forever hold your peace.” You opened your mouth to speak, but no words came out. “Just as I thought.” For the second time, Shigure kissed you. This kiss, however, was completely different from the first. You didn't have to pretend you were upset with him for kissing you. This let you just enjoy the kiss and his closeness without having to worry about anything else.

When Shigure pulled away, he was wearing a wide, mischievous grin on his face. It made you want to shove him away, but as tightly as he was holding you, you knew you wouldn't be able to. “There's no need for you to make that face. You're just trying to embarrass me.”

Shigure laughed. “Why my dearest, that is exactly what I'm trying to do to you. And just so you know, I plan on embarrassing you as often as possible until you find you've grown tired of me.” He kissed the top of your nose, suddenly seeming a little worried. “There is one more thing I need to tell you, but you must promise me that you won't get angry.”

Afraid he might be about to tell you something awful, you shook your head and refused to make any promises. “I can't promise that. You're going to have to tell me at your own risk.”

“Very well.” Still holding you against him, Shigure cleared his throat and blushed slightly. “I wasn't ever actually writing a book. At least not a book with a character like you. It was an excuse for me to be near you. I do apologize, but it really was necessary you see?”

Your face turned at least a dozen different shades of red after hearing his rather unsuspected confession. “T-that's both a little creepy, and really sweet. For now I'll try to ignore the creepy aspect. But really, I had no idea you'd liked me for that long. You should have said something sooner.”

“Oh, it's been much longer than that, I assure you. And I waited for the right moment. You can't hurry love after all.” Shigure chuckled quietly as he nuzzled and kissed you behind the ear. “But that's not at all important anymore. What is important is that now and forever, you are all mine.” He winked. “Whether you like it or not.”
