Lord Death stood in front of the crowd, trying to get the rowdy, hungry players to be quiet. “We can all go get something to eat after this next turn. The sooner you all are quiet the sooner we can go.” A loud thud echoed through the room as he slammed his hand down on the wooden library table. “Would everyone just settle down already? This is a library after all, so shut up!” With the room now silent, he let grabbed the container of items and threw something into your lap. “That's your item, deal with it. If you all had been quiet, I would have let you choose your item, but no, you just had to talk.”

“I wasn't even one of the ones that was talking. But it's okay, it's not like I mind playing.” You looked down at the item, just barely clinging to your knee. It was a thick, metallic looking necklace. After lifting it into your hand, you realized that it was also very heavy. “Since you threw this at me, do you know who it belongs to?”

“Hmm, let me see.” Death peeked over your shoulder and nodded. “Oh yes, that item belongs to Giriko.” Leaving your side, he sat down in a large chair made especially for him and waved you off. “Well, good luck with that, I'll be over here if you need me.”

“Yeah, thanks.” With the necklace still in your hand, Giriko walked up to you, snatched it away and continued on towards the closet. “This is going to be just great.”Apprehensive, for rather obvious reasons, you followed Giriko into the closet and slowly shut the door behind you.

The moment that door shut, his nasty, uncooperative attitude started. “It took you long enough to get in here.” He snorted and crossed his arms, adding to his unwelcoming demeanor. “I was starting to think that I was going to spend the whole seven minutes by myself.”

“If you'd like that, it can definitely be arranged.” Honestly, you were in no mood at all to be pushed into a fight that didn't even need to take place. You knew full well that spent any time at all with Giriko, that was exactly what was going to happen. It's not like I have to stay in here. The rule was that I had to play, I've played, so I can leave whenever I feel like it.”

A cruel smile spread over his face, exposing his sharp teeth. “Really, you think you can just up and leave whenever you want” He chuckled. “You want to bet?”

“No, I really don't.” You were fully determined not to fight with him, no matter how hard he pushed. “Your attitude was just so bad that I thought you might actually prefer being alone to spending your turn with me, or anyone else for that matter.”

“You're just making excuses. You know I would saw you to pieces without a second thought, so you've decided to play nice with me.” Though he let out a cruel laugh to try and hide it, you knew the fact that he couldn't get you riled up annoyed him a lot. As he pulled a small bottle of what you presumed was liquor from his pocket, he began to swear. Once the bottle was opened and to his lips, the pungent smell hit you causing you to unknowingly wrinkle your nose. This subconscious expression gave Giriko yet another excuse to argue, as if he really needed one. “You have a problem?”

Reaching a breaking point, you closed your eyes and clenched your fists. “Would you please calm down already? I didn't even say anything to you. If you're so eager to fight, why don't you go do something useful with all that rage?”

Giriko immediately jumped to his feet and looked down at you with the most wicked glare you'd ever seen. “What's that supposed to mean?”

“It means exactly what I said.” Standing up, you brought your eyes up to meet his and gave him a bored, annoyed stare. “Just stop picking a fight with me already, and go do something worth while. You fighting me isn't going to accomplish anything at all, and it's certainly not going to prove you're better than anyone else.”

“Is that so?” Giriko was so aggravated with you that his eyebrow actually started to twitch. “Why don't we find out if that's really true.” As he slowly stepped towards you, you really started to wish you'd just kept quiet. This couldn't end well.

As he stepped closer, you backed yourself against the door. When you tried to find the knob to escape, you couldn't get your hand to function. Figuring he really was going to cut you to pieces, you closed your eyes tightly and waited. “Not today Giriko.” Lord Death swung open the door and pulled you to him. “I'm sure you've already made this turn Hell for her, instead of Heaven. Now leave the poor girl alone.” He gave your head a rough pat. “You can cut her up another day, but not in the library.”

Unsure whether Lord Death had actually saved you, or just given Giriko permission to kill you at a later date, you hung your head and sighed. “Thanks, I think.”
