“Of all the people they could have chosen, they pick me. Why? They knew I didn't want to go. I told them so. And Lee was practically begging to take my place.” Complaining angrily to yourself, you trudged through the muddy waters around Amegakure. “They probably just wanted to get rid of me.” You snorted. “Not that I can blame them.” A sudden awareness hit you. You spun around to see a dark figure coming straight for you. Before you could react, you were hit in the head with a blunt object, instantly knocking you out cold.

“Get up already, I know I didn't hit you that hard.” Your assailant roughly shook you by the shoulder in an attempt to wake you from your forced sleep.. “Unless you plan on going hungry tonight, I'd suggest you get up.”

You slowly sat up and rubbed your head. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt at all. “W-where am I?” By the looks of it you were in some sort of cave like hideout. You looked around but saw no way out, only long cavernous halls on either side of the room. Sitting by a small fire, stirring something in a small black pot, was a familiar figure. “Madara? What's going on?”

“I would think someone of your intelligence would have already figured it out.” He ladled what looked like a vegetable stew into a small bowl and stood. “I'm taking you hostage. The Leaf has something that is rightfully mine. I though this a better idea than to start an all out war.” Madara handed you the bowl of stew and headed back to the fire.

“Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but even if that might have been a really good idea in theory, in practice, it'll never work.”After taking a sip of your stew, you stood from the makeshift bed, following Madara over to the fire. You hoped the warmth would help chase the chill from your bones. “So, do you have a back up plan?”

Madara was obviously curious. “First, tell me why is it you think my plan would fail?” He seemed almost offended by your lack of faith in him. “Does the Leaf no longer care about it's ninja? Or would no one notice you were gone.”

“Oh no, they still care about their ninja. And there's no doubt that they'd notice my disappearance, almost instantly. They just wont come looking for a ninja that finds pleasure in causing problems for them.” You laughed. “They'll probably be more than thankful that you stole me. To be honest, you're doing them a pretty big favor.”

“Is that so?” Madara stared at you as if he was trying to assess whether you were lying to him or not. “What did you do that could be so horrible they wouldn't save you?”

“I burnt down some buildings, that was an accident though. But as far as things I did on purpose?” You tapped your chin and thought. “I filled Lady Tsunade's shampoo bottle full of Nair, and her conditioner full of lard. I put water snakes in the hot springs. This one time I sent all the Kunoichi flowers with poison ivy hidden in the bouquet.  And then of course there was the general vandalizing of random things here and there.”

Madara didn't seem impressed. There was actually a slight hint of a smile on his face. “That's all? I expected more from you.” He chuckled. “You're nothing more than a typical, rebellious prankster. They shouldn't abandon you for that.”

“I think they would.” You rung your hands and looked down at the earthen floor. “They've been doing things just so I'll have to leave the village. I even had a few fake missions from them.” You tried, but you couldn't stop your sadness from showing through. “You know, I never would have started pranking them if they weren't such jerks. Just because I'm smarter than I am strong doesn't mean I'm not helpful.” A hot, salty tear escaped and trickled down your cheek. The next thing you knew, you were sitting on Madara's lap, wrapped up tight in his arms.

“You really are very childish. No one is treated equally, and you were stupid to think they'd make an exception for you. Not only that, but to think you were justified to do wrong because you were wronged will only continue the cycle.” He sighed. “However, I can understand you're in pain. And pain can make us act irrationally.”

“I-I don't know whether to be offended or not.” You pressed your face to his chest. “But it did kind of make me feel better, so thank you.”

Madara ignored your thanks. “I have, what might be a solution to your problems. If you don't agree, you will still remain here as my captive. Therefore it would be beneficial for you to listen to me now.” He stared down at you, making sure he had your complete attention.

You weren't really worried about being his captive, But you were interested in what he might say, you urged him on. “Okay, what is it then?”

“The Leaf doesn't realize you have a lot of talent, mostly because you choose to hide it beneath pranks and stupidity. However, I believe with a bit of training, and focus, you could prove very useful to me. So my solution is, that you don't return to the Leaf, but instead stay here with me and hone your skills. As my pupil.”

Your mouth dropped wide open. “You aren't serious are you? Please, please tell me this isn't some sort of cruel joke.” You clutched the front of his shirt tightly in your hands, staring up at him with wide, hopeful eyes.

“Why would I joke?” Madara gently removed your hands from his shirt and brushed himself off. “I have no reason to cause you more pain.”

“Then my answer is yes.” You wrapped your arms around him and leaned into his chest. It had been a long time since you felt this happy. Actually, you didn't think you had ever been this happy. “Thank you so much Madara. This may be the best thing that's ever happened to me.”

“You're very welcome.” He gave your back a gentle pat. “However, if you are to be my pupil from this moment on, I believe Sensei, would be a more appropriate title. Don't you?”

“Oh, of course, Sensei.” You couldn't help but giggle at how the unfamiliar word sounded coming out of your mouth. This was the first time you'd ever called anyone Sensei. “I've never said it before, but I really like the way that sounds.”

Madara nodded as he once again stopped you from clinging to him. “I'm very glad you like it. But would you mind doing me a very small favor?”

“Of course, anything for you Sensei.” Giggling again at the use of the word, you looked up at Madara and awaited his orders.

He cleared his throat and spoke. “Could you please get off of my lap now. I've lost all feelings in my legs and feet.”
