Instead of being outside, as planned, you and Kidomaru found yourself surrounded by snacks and playing video games in your bedroom floor. Honestly, you liked this setting much better than the one you had planned for the day. Kidomaru however, still seemed more than willing to go outside and compete with you. “I still think we could settle this if you really wanted to. You're just scared that you're going to lose again, admit it.”

“That's not true and you know it. I'd beat you mercilessly this time. Besides, there's no way we can do some of that stuff with the weather the way it is. We won't be able to see our hands in front of our faces. Just think about trying to run through the trees without being able to see the branched.” You sighed as you mashed down at the buttons of your controller. “That's an accident waiting to happen.”

“Sure, nice excuse you noob.” Kidomaru snorted. “And stop button mashing already. That's how girls play video games.”

You hit the pause button on your controller and stared over at him with half shut eyes. “News flash Kidomaru, I am a girl. Also, my button mashing has beaten you every, single, time. So stop being a sore loser and admit that I'm better than you.”

“You've only beaten me at a single game.” Once again defeated by you, Kidomaru dropped the controller and crossed his arms. “There are still plenty of other versus games that we can play. I'm sure I'll destroy you when we play those. This game is obviously just your favorite one. You know all the power up moves, so you must have played it a lot.”

He looked so serious over a game. It was hard for you to hold back your laughter. “Actually, I've never even played this one before. I didn't have anyone to play it with me, so it's just been sitting on a shelf until today.”

“Liar. I don't believe that for a second. No one buys games so they can collect dust.” He waved off your claim like you'd said nothing at all. “Put a different game in already. We've been playing this game for two hours now. It's gotten seriously old.”

Honestly just as bored with the game as he was, you reached towards your system and readied to exchange it for a new one. “You only think that because you're loosing.”

Your words upset him a lot more than you expected them to. He actually looked ready to fight  you. For some reason, that didn't worry you. “I really aught to teach you a lesson. You're way too comfortable around me. If you've already forgotten, let me remind you that I do work for Orochimaru. I'm not exactly your friend.”

“Let me remind you that you are in my house, which is in the middle of the Leaf village. If you tried anything stupid, you'd be surrounded by ninja, and there would be no one to help you.” You allowed a very sarcastic, almost wicked looking smile to spread across your face. “Also, if you want to keep playing my video games, I'd suggest you rethink being my friend.” Kidomaru wouldn't have hurt you anyway, you already knew this. The problem was, he didn't know that you knew this. Because of this, he very often threw out empty threats in an attempt to frighten you. “Well, have you rethought it, or should I just kick you out now.”

He dropped his head back and let out a loud sigh. “This is really starting to annoying me. Would you just put the game in already?”

Dropping back onto your heels, you crossed your arms and slowly shook your head. “Nope. I can't do that. Not until I'm completely sure you're not just using me.”

Your very simple words made him blush, which he quickly hid by lowering his face to his hands. “What does that even mean? And why is it so important?”

“It means you have to admit to me, that you actually like hanging out with me. I want to hear you say it. ” There was a reason behind you doing this, but you weren't going to let him know that. The truth was, you really liked hanging out with Kidomaru, regardless of who he decided affiliated with. He was fun to be around and you really wanted to know if he felt the same about you.

He looked up at you from between his fingers, his face, obviously just as red as before. “Why would you need to hear me say that? It's so stupid. Man, girls are confusing.” You didn't answer him this time, you just stared. “Don't look at me like that, I'll say your stupid thing, alright?” Kidomaru sat up straight and took in a slow breath. “I like hanging out with you, sometimes anyway. Sometimes, I find you to be really annoying though.”

“Good, that's all I wanted to hear.” Glad to know where you stood with him, you popped a new game from its protective case and placed it into the system.

Now curious as to why you'd made such a fuss over something so insignificant, Kidomaru placed the controller on the ground and turned to look at you. “So, do you mind telling me why it was so  important that I do that?”

Staring straight at the TV, you tried to find a way to answer him without sounding pathetic. “You're a cool guy, I just wanted to find out if you secretly loathed me or not.” What you said was true, it just wasn't as informative as it could have been. One glance at Kidomaru, and you knew didn't buy your explanation. “What? I'm being serious here.”

“Then why do you look like you're hiding something? And why does your face look like you just got stuck by a hundred angry bees?” He raised a brow. “You're not telling me something. I can feel it.” Pulling you towards him, Kidomaru stared you straight in the eyes. “What aren't you telling me?

You should have known something like this would happen. Kidomaru was focused on the fine details, obsessed with how things worked. He wanted everything to be perfect and exactly how it should be. There was no way he would continue on without getting the answer  he wanted. “You want the truth? Well fine then, I'll give it to you. The truth is that I kind of like you, six arms and all.”

“If you weren't so red, I'd think you were lying again.” Your confession, though somewhat forced had efficiently made the room completely silent. “Now everything's awkward, this sucks.”

“Yup, it kind of does, doesn't it?” You sighed. “It's your fault though. I would have just stayed quiet if you weren't so nosy about everything.”

Kidomaru was quickly becoming just as flustered as you were. You had to do something to fix this, and fast. “I didn't mean to be nosy, you know. And I wouldn't have been, you were just being so suspicious, I couldn't help but wonder.”

“Yeah, I guess that is true.” With a shrug, you started up the game and readied to play, hoping this would take your minds off of the uncomfortable atmosphere that just wouldn't leave the room. “Anyway, I hope you're ready to lose, again. It really doesn't matter how many different games we play together, I'm still going to beat you.”

“Oh really? We'll just have to see about that then, won't we? I hope you have some cold water, because you're really going to need it after the burn you're about to receive.” Instantly freed from the thick fog of awkwardness, Kidomaru snatched up his controller once more and prepared for battle. This time however, he sat just a little closer than before.
