You looked up at the now familiar stars that filled the night sky and let out a quiet sigh. “You know, we spend an awful lot of time out here in your truck. I'm not complaining or anything, but I think next time we go out, we should actually go somewhere.”

Zack ran his fingers through your hair and chuckled. “What are you talking about? We are somewhere.”

“You know exactly what I trying to say, don't try to pretend you don't. I want to go out, like to the movies, or to dinner, something a little different.” Snuggling yourself onto his chest, you gave Zack a little squeeze. “I do like being alone with you, but we could be alone somewhere else. Think about it, we've never even been on an actual date before.”

“Well, that's because dates are for people that are dating.” An awkward blush spread over Zack's face as he awkwardly shifted beneath you.

Zack wasn't his usual self, he hadn't been all night. He'd been dull and boring instead of his usual fun loving care free self. You tried not to let this bother you, but you couldn't help but be a little worried, especially after what he'd just said. “I kind of thought we were dating. I mean, most friends don't snuggle with each other in the middle of nowhere. I'm pretty sure they don't kiss either.”

Nodding gently, Zack answered in a weak, quiet voice. “Y-yeah, I guess you're right.”

Having dealt with his strange attitude long enough, you quickly sat up, crossed your arms and glared down at him. “Okay, what's your issue already? You're acting all weird and it's really starting to annoy me. If there's something bothering you, you should really just tell me instead of trying to make me figure it out on my own. Are you mad at me or something?”

He immediately sat up and shook his head. “No, of course not, that's not it at all.” Placing his hands on your shoulders, Zack dropped his head and blushed even worse. “Look, I might have written a letter to my parents. And in that letter I might have called you my girlfriend. Because of what I might have done, my parents might want to meet you.”

“Is that all? Gee Zack, you had me worried over nothing.” Glad it was nothing serious, you lowered your head to his chest and breathed a sigh of relief.  “I don't mind meeting your parents at all. I don't even understand why you would get so worried about that.”

“Yeah, about that.” He wrapped his arms around you and laughed. “My mom's the kind of person who would expect us to get married and have kids just because you're meeting her. She'd see it as a sign, if you know what I mean. She's kind of old fashioned that way I guess.”

“If your face was any more red, you might just turn into a strawberry.” You placed your hands on his cheeks and grinned. “Not that that's a bad thing, I guess.”

Zack groaned as he flopped back down onto his back. “I already know that I'm blushing, you don't have to point it out.”

“But when I point it out, you blush even worse.” Still holding on to his cheeks, you began to push them together, causing his lips to poke out. “You're still acting weird you know. If you don't start acting like yourself soon, I might have to hurt you.”

“You wouldn't dare.” His eyes narrowed as his playful grin finally appeared.

“Oh, wouldn't I?” Hoping he'd finally decided to relax, you launched your attack. Within minutes the two of you were tangled in blankets and rolling around the bed of his truck. “Give up already, you know I'm going to win, I always do.”

“Yeah, but that's only because I always let you win. You really think you could beat me if I was trying?” Zack laughed. “If I was actually trying, I'd already have you on your back by now, and you'd have given up a long time ago.”

You spoke before you'd given yourself a chance to think. “Ha, then prove it.”

Zack shrugged. “Well, I guess, if you insist.” Without even trying, he flipped you over so that you were flat on your back with him on top of you. “I told you.” He leaned down close to you and placed a gentle kiss on your nose as an apology.

The slight pain in the back of your head made you wish you hadn't challenged him. “Okay, I believe you now. Remind me to never doubt your strength or wrestling abilities again okay?”

“I really don't think I should have to remind you after that, but I'll do whatever you want I guess.” He stared you straight in the eyes and put on his most serious expression. “Don't ever doubt my strength, or wrestling abilities, ever again, okay?”

“Man Zack, you seriously come up with the worst jokes ever.” As awful as his joke was, you couldn't help but to laugh. “And don't say anything about the fact that I'm laughing. I'm not laughing because it was funny, I'm laughing because it was so horrible I couldn't stop myself.” You wrapped your arms around him and pulled down to you for a long hug, tight hug. “As bad as your jokes are, I still can't help but to kind of like you a little bit.”

Zack winced. “First you attack my jokes, and now you tell me that you only kind of like me. You're cutting me pretty deep tonight, aren't you?” His face suddenly turned red again. “I guess it's a really good thing I didn't ask you to be my girlfriend tonight, you know, like I'd planned on doing. I would have only ended up hurt when you said no.”

You released him from your hug and pressed the palm of your hand to your face. “Sometimes the thing you say really confuse me.”

“What are you talking about? I'm being completely serious here.” Confused, nervous, and a little upset, Zack moved away from you and began to pout. “I really do want you to be my girlfriend.”

“Angeal is right about you. You talk too much to even pay attention.” Forcing yourself into his lap, you cuddled him close to you and rubbed your nose against his chin. “I've been your girlfriend for a long time Zack. Sometimes you don't have to ask to make things official. Besides, you already told your parents we were a thing, so It's not like I can back out of this now right?”

“Well, you could back out I guess. If you really wanted to that is. I'd really rather that you didn't though, because I might have already promised my mom that you'd come see her the next time we got a chance.” He rubbed the back of his head and let out a nervous chuckle. “You know, I think I might have a little problem with exaggerating.”

“I think you might be right.” Knowing how excitable, and absent minded Zack could be, you could only hope he hadn't promised his parents anything too embarrassing. “I might regret asking this, but what else did you maybe promise her?”

He laughed again, which unfortunately made you even more nervous than you already were. “Nothing else, I promise. Even I wouldn't go off and promise her something weird, like grand kids, or a wedding, or anything else crazy like that.”

“I really hope you're not lying to me. Because if I go to your mom's house, and she asks me something about a wedding, or kids, I'm really going to hurt you. Or, maybe, since I really can't hurt you, I'll just have to do something equally embarrassing.” A wide, crooked smile appeared on your face as you thought of all the terrible ways you could embarrass him. “Yes, I think humiliation would be a much better idea.”

Zack gave you a strange, almost freaked out look. “You wouldn't dare do that. Not in front of my mom anyway, w-would you?”

Smiling wickedly, you took his face in your hands and kissed him. “Just try me and you'll find out.”
