“We are going to get caught, and when we do, do you know what's going to happen to us? Jail, we're both going to go to jail.” Throwing your arms in the air, you let out a frustrated sigh. “I don't want to go to jail. I have a really good life, I'm happy.”

Dark Link, who you now lovingly referred to as Dink, placed his hand over your mouth. “If you would shut your mouth for even a second, it would greatly lower our chances of getting caught. Not to mention it would really raise our chances of success.” After a quick peek over the bushes to  make sure  no one heard you, he looked back down at you. “Now please, try to be a little more quiet.” Slowly he removed his hand from your mouth. “Now follow me.” While on hands and knees, Dink crawled under bushes and scurried through the open areas until he felt safe.

Tired from crawling all that way, you leaned against a grey stone wall of the castle and caught your breath. “How much farther do we have to go? My knees are already killing me.”

“Not too far. The main garden is right over there. One more round of guards and we should be home free. When you're ready, we'll make a run for it.” Another deep breath in and you nodded, ready for the last challenge. “Then lets go.” He timed the guards just right, and ran as fast as possible past a large archway and into the main garden. Following his lead, you raced to the garden, averting the gaze of the guards. “You made it. What a surprise.”

“Would you stop that already?” You snorted at him. “Let's just hurry and get this done. I don't want to be here all day.”

“Yeah, yeah. You take that window, I'll use this one.” Dink waved you to a tall, stained glass window. “Hopefully you can see through that.” Walking over to another window, he sat down, cupped his hands around his eyes and tried to look inside. “That jerk, he's with the Princess again. I don't get it, what does he have that I don't?”

“That's what we're here to find out, but I don't see how we're going to learn anything out here. Sure we can see him, but that doesn't really help you too much.” You moved back from the window and walked to Dink. “We need to be closer, like inside.”

“I think you might be right.” He rubbed his brow in frustration and sighed. “But I really can't see us getting past the guards to get inside. They're undoubtedly more vigilant than the ones we've been outsmarting so far.”

“We don't need to get past them. We can just use the servants entrance.” You grabbed his hand and ran around the building, leading him to an old, worn, wooden door. “Ta Da, our ticket inside. Not that bad of an idea, was it?”

Dink shook his head. “No, not at all.” He placed a hand on the top of your head and rubbed it teasingly. “Maybe  you will come in handy after all.” As quietly as possible, the two of you snuck through the maze like halls of the castle. It took you much longer than expected to find Link and Zelda. You stood on a balcony above them, probably used for nothing more than decoration. But you could see, and hear them both perfectly, making this spot ideal. “Finally, now we can see what makes that little green frog better than me.”

“Just out of curiosity, who told you he was better than you are? I know I, never said anything like that to you.” Not wanting to be spotted, you quickly sat down on the balcony behind a large flowering potted plant and leaned against the railing. “Actually, I think you have a lot more personality than he does.”

Face red, he didn't respond, only pressed his forefinger to his lips and shushed you. You sat with him in silence for a long time, doing nothing but watching Link and Zelda interact. The silence broke. “I don't understand it. We're almost identical in looks, and in personality. He's just nicer and more quiet than I am.” He sighed. “This was pointless, I didn't learn anything.” Obviously a little sad, he stood to his feet. “Let's just go. Sorry I drug you out here for nothing.”

“You don't need to apologize. I'd have come with you even if you didn't ask me.” You weren't making him feel any better, despite your efforts. His moping around as you left the castle was, quite frankly, very annoying and unnecessary. Managing to keep your annoyance bottled up until you were outside of the castle walls was difficult, making you react a bit more forcefully than you probably should have. “Look, I don't know what your problem is, or why you're being so hard on yourself, but it's stupid. You shouldn't want to be like Link, you aren't Link, you're you. So why don't you just be yourself and be happy already?”

“Just leave me alone, you have no idea what you're talking about.” He pushed you out of away and tried to walk past you.

“Really? You don't think I've ever been jealous or walked in someone else's shadow?” Not about to let him get away so easily, you jumped on his back, wrestling him to the ground and sat on him. “We've all been there. It's just part of life. Now really, I need you to stop being so hard on yourself. Unless you can make me that promise, we'll be sitting here for a long time.”

“I can't make that promise. I'm not as easily satisfied as you are. You may be okay with walking in the shadow of others, but I am a shadow.” He snorted. “I think I have you beat.”

You dropped down on his back, hugging him tightly. “You probably do, and I'm sorry. But really, what is it that Link has that you want so badly?”

Managing to roll over in the grass, he looked up at you. He looked almost confused by your question. “Everything. He has the Triforce, the fame, glory, even the Princess. What to I have?” With a fake laugh he shook his head. “I don't even have a horse or an annoying fairy.”

You were a little embarrassed to say it, but you knew you needed to. “Well, I know it's not much. But I don't plan on leaving you. So, there's that at least.”

“Ah, there is that.” His face grew red as he slowly nodded, as if understanding something important. “I should have noticed that a bit sooner.” After clearing his throat, Dink tried to sit up. “You can get off of me now. I think I'm ready to make that promise to you now.”

“Okay, but if you decide to throw another pity party for yourself, you know what the consequences will be.” After poking his nose, and glaring down at him for a second, you stood to your feet, freeing him to stand.

“I know.” He was standing with his arms around you in an instant. “I'm counting on you to keep me in line.” He chuckled. “Though, I really should tell you, having a pretty girl on top of me isn't much of a punishment. We may want to change that, or I might just start feigning my pity parties.”

Also I call him Dink all the time cuz I once made a spelling error and Dink is what came out. So it kind of stuck.
