You pull a piece of crumpled parchment out of the hat. "Oh, I wonder what it says" Before you can unfold it to read the words Latvia snatches the paper from your hands.
"It's not finished yet, you can't read it." A deep blush covers his face.
"Okay, okay, you can talk about this in the closet." America pushes you in the closet, waves and locks the door. Latvia tucked the paper carefully into his pocket as he sat down.
"What is it? If you don't mind telling me." You sat down beside him and gave a sweet smile.
"It's a poem; I like poetry so I thought I'd try to write a bit. It's not very good though, I just had nothing else to put in the hat."
"Oh, well you'll have to let me read it when you finish, I like poetry." Your smile widened and you blushed a bit.
"I-I don't know about that, It's about someone." His face grew hot. "It's a bit embarrassing; I'll probably burn it anyway. If Russia were to find it, He'd tease me mercilessly." He dropped his head and sighed.
"I'm sorry; I wish I could help you somehow." You ran your fingers through his messy blonde hair. This seemed to only worsen his blush.
"I should just learn to stand up for myself, I try, really I do… But inevitably, I fail. I have to find a way to gain confidence, or strength. Staying under Russia's thumb I'll never grow." A haze of depression engulfed Latvia.
"You'll find a way, Russia was once oppressed." You threw your arms around Latvia, unsure what else you could do. "You just need to speak up for yourself, like you have in here. Show him that you can be strong." Latvia hugged you back, you felt something wet on your neck. "Latvia, are you crying?"
"No, I'm not, I… okay yes, but only a little, I'm sorry, I can't help it, I cry when I'm happy. What you said really means a lot to me, no one has ever put faith in me before." Latvia left the warmth of your hug, only long enough to give you a kiss on the corner of your mouth. "Thank you "______" you have made me stronger, just in this short time we have been together. I would really like to see you again."
"That would be wonderful Latvia, I hope we can help each other grow" You hugged him tight, unaware you had just pulled him into your chest. "I'm really glad I came to this party." The door swung open.
"Hello there friends! Well now Latvia, what are you doing to "_____"'s breast's? That seems most inappropriate; would you like me to leave you in here a bit longer?" Sealand seemed confused by your awkward hug. You let go of Latvia, he was as red as a tomato.
"No, seven minutes was more than enough time, thank you Sealand." Latvia helped you up and scurried from the closet. Latvia saw that Russia was Hiding from Belarus and thought it a good time to escape. "Hey, do you like the mall?" Latvia looked at you with hopeful eyes.
"What girl doesn't?" Latvia took that as a yes, and escaped with you for the rest of the night.
"Wankers." England yelled as you two ran off.
