“Good morning, have you thought about my little proposition yet?” Every single morning, for the last eleven days, Ghirahim would ask you that. You'd already managed to last almost twice as long as he expected, and you could tell he was getting tense. Unfortunately, you didn't know if you could last even one more day. “Oh, are you not speaking to me again? How very juvenile.” He slammed your bowl of plain, unflavored oats on the small, dirty table and unchained you. “Now eat.”

“I am eating.” You'd given up on not eating a long time ago. Ghirahim was just as stubborn as you were, which caused major problems with your plan. There was no way he'd let you free, no matter how long you stayed in that room, no matter how long you went without eating. You were going to be in there until you either died, or gave in to him. You'd started out stubborn and strong, but the constant silence was starting to drive you crazy, weakening your resolve terribly.

As you scarfed down the last spoonfuls of food, Ghirahim started to laugh. “My, you have quite the appetite today, don't you?” He walked over to you, wiped a bit of food from your chin and sighed. “You know, if you were to join me, you'd never go hungry again. As I'm sure you know, a great demon lord such as myself has an abundance of delicious, mouth watering foods. More than you could ever eat.” With his head held high, he walked away from you and continued taunting you. “The juiciest, most succulent fruit is on my table, along with the freshest, crispest vegetables and the most flavorful desserts you could ever wish for. “But alas, I have no one to share these, rather, trivial things with.”

“Hey, if you want to bring me some desserts, I won't complain. After all, this stuff you've been bringing me tastes like sawdust.” You dropped the bowl onto the table and wrinkled your nose. “Actually, I think saw dust might taste better.”

Ghirahim stood uncomfortably close to you and smiled sarcastically. “Oh, I would love to, but you are a prisoner. And you must know I cannot show you more kindness than my other prisoners, even if you are, my favorite.”

“Your favorite? You pressed your hand to your heart and pretended to blink back the tears that weren't there. “Man Ghirahim, I had no idea. I'm honored actually.”

“Try as you might, that sharp tongue of yours won't get the better of me.” Despite his words, you could see the anger in his eyes. “I'm leaving this room, and in one hour I will return. You have until then to make up your mind. If at this time, you still deny me, I will wash my hands of you. You will be left to rot in this cell until your bones turn to dust and your memory has been forgotten completely.” He roughly grabbed your jaw and forced you to look at him. “I would think this over, very carefully if I were you.” Ghirahim stared at you, very intently before leaving you alone to think.

You cursed as he phased through the wall. Though you wanted desperately to do what was right, there was no point in dying, not when you had another option. But was living even worth it if you were living just to do wrong? “I'm not going to die over this. I can't die.” You slammed your fists into the stone wall and sunk down to the cold, unforgiving floor. As you thought and thought, another thing started to bother you. “Why hasn't anyone even tried to save me yet? Do I really not matter at all to them?” Anger welled in your chest, causing you to clench your fists even tighter. “I'm not going to stay loyal to people who have already forgotten about me. They don't deserve my loyalty.” Your mind had suddenly snapped. You no longer cared what happened to anyone else. The only thing even remotely important to you now, was you.

“It seems you've made your choice.” Ghirahim looked down at you, his eyes filled with satisfaction. “Will you join me, Lord Ghirahim? Will you sit by my side, will you rule along side me, as my partner?” He slowly extended out his arm, offering you his hand.

“I have made my choice. I don't know why it took me so long either.” You took his hand, stood up to your feet and took a deep breath in. “Yes, I will join you. I don't really have any other options. And it seems, those who I thought were my friends, have forgotten all about me.”

“We'll just have to make them remember you then.” He grasped your hand tightly in his and led you through one of the walls. This was the first time in months you'd left that dark little room and the wide, open space actually made your heart skip a beat. “Now, I believe the first thing you need to do, is bathe, and change out of those clothes. You smell like you've been sleeping in a pig pen.” Ghirahim snarled as he led you down a long hallway littered with portraits and decorated with deep red curtains. At the end of this long hallway was a single wooden door with your name already engraved on it.

Seeing this shocked you. “You knew I'd join you all along, didn't you?”

With a chuckle, Ghirahim opened the door and let you inside. “I'm Ghirahim, the great demon lord. I know everything. When will you learn that?”

The room was completely enormous. It was filled with lavish furniture that begged you to cozy up in it with one of the beautiful quilts and read one of the many, many books that were sitting on your floor to ceiling bookcases. “This, is not what I was expecting.”

“Is it not to your liking?” Knowing that wasn't the problem, Ghirahim grinned.

“No, that's not it and you know it. When you said you wanted me to work with you, I was expecting more of a, master servant relationship. This, however, is not the kind of room you would hand to a servant. It's more ritzy than anything I've ever seen. I doubt even the palace has linens like these.”

Ghirahim waved you off, but was obviously pleased that you liked your new living quarters. “This is nothing special, I assure you. You are only one step above my servants. I would not fill your room with anything that couldn't easily be replaced.”

“Oh, well, thanks a bunch. I was actually starting to feel a little bit special, good thing you put me back in my place.” You crossed your arms and let out a sigh. “So, I'm dying for some decent food. When are we going to eat?”

“As I've stated, you smell like you've been sleeping in a pig pen. After you bathe, a half dozen times at least, I will have someone escort you to the dinning hall. Now, I'll leave you.” Turning quickly, Ghirahim placed his hand loosely on your doorknob and prepared to leave. “I doubt even my nose can handle your pungent odor any longer.”

“Hey Ghirahim, wait just a second.  Before you leave there's something I've got to do.” Though you knew what you were about to do was a huge risk, it had never stopped you before. The instant he turned back around, you launched yourself at him, hugging him in a way that pressed your full body against his. “There you go, now we both stink. I didn't want you feeling left out buddy.”

“How thoughtful.” He shoved you away and pressed his fingers to his forehead. “I do believe I've told you not to address me as "buddy". You are to call me, Lord Ghira-.” The amused way you were looking at him made him bring his sentence to an abrupt halt. “Never mind. I'm doing nothing but embarrassing myself. You're a lost cause and I doubt there's much I can do to change that.” Once again he started to open your door. “You may be sitting at my right hand, but do remember, if you upset me, I can still cut you off. I don't need you to survive.”

As always, his warning meant very little to you and you immediately brushed it off. “I'm perfectly aware of that. Now, unless you plan on watching me bathe, I suggest you leave. Unless of course you've become fond of the way I smell.”

Ghirahim shook his head and walked out the door. “Please, say no more, I'm gone.”
