      Before Edward had even made it all the way back to the group you stood to your feet and rushed over to him. “Hey Edward, would it be okay with you if I went next? It's getting kind of late, and I'm really getting hungry.”

“Sure, that would be great actually.” Edward happily agreed. “You volunteering is a lot less awkward than me picking out a girl every single time.”

“Yes, thank you.” You dug so far into the barrel, your feet actually left the ground. After a bit of struggling to get yourself unstuck, you emerged from the barrel wearing a navy blue and gold hat. “I haven't a clue whose hat this is. I just liked the way it looked.”

“And it looks quite lovely on you.” With a crooked grin, Joshua pushed himself from the ground and walked over to you. “I don't usually permit others to wear my hat, but I suppose I can make an exception in your case.” He took your hand, kissing it gently and began walking towards the tent. With darkness already falling it was slightly more difficult to navigate around the cluttered space. Fortunately you were both able to find a seat without tripping, falling or hurting yourselves. “There we are, that wasn't too hard now was it?”

“Nope, not at all.” You crossed your legs, placed your hands on your knees and smiled wide. Now that you were alone, in a tent with a random person, you weren't really sure what to do next. Hopefully Joshua would say or do something that would put an end to the awkward silence that had crept in.

“I must say, you have an absolutely brilliant smile.” He leaned forward and tipped the hat up slightly to get a better view of your face. “I don't know how I didn't notice before.”

Completely oblivious to the fact he was flirting with you, you thanked him without so much as a blush. “Thank you, that's really sweet. You have very nice hair. I think most of the girls here are jealous of it. It's a shame you wear this hat all the time. You know, maybe you should just give it to me.”

Joshua stared at you blankly, a little shocked that you'd completely ignored what he thought was pretty obvious flirting. When he did speak, it was in a quiet confused voice. “Thank, you?”

“You're very welcome. So I can keep the hat right?” Pulling it off of your head, you snuggled it in your arms. “I think it looks better on me anyway.”

“No, no, you can not keep my hat, now give it here.” Joshua snatched it from your arms and placed it back on his head. “You little sneak, pretending to be all oblivious just to confuse me into giving you my hat. It's not going to work.” He leaned back against a small wooden crate and placed his hands behind his head. “Though I am curious, how is it you dismissed my flirting with such ease?”

You laughed. “That's easy. I didn't know you were flirting. I tend to miss that kind of stuff, and I'm no good with subtle hints either. Unless you're crystal clear and straight forward, I'll probably miss what you're trying to say.”

“Is that so?” Still in slight disbelief that anyone could be so blind, Joshua came up with a plan. He leaned in close to you, smiled and was a straight forward as he could be. “I would like to kiss you, and unless you say otherwise, that is exactly what I'm going to do.” This time your face did turn red. “No objections?” You found yourself slowly shaking your head. “Understood.” Quite please that he'd managed to make you speechless, Joshua lifted your chin slightly and just barely brushed his lips against yours. The closer he came to actually kissing you, the redder your face became.

“You guys are being really quiet in there, should I not open the door?” Edwards voice shocked you, causing you to jump slightly.

Joshua finally placed a quick kiss on the corner of your mouth and stood to his feet smiling wide. “No, it's fine Edward. You should know I wouldn't do anything perverse with such a lovely young lady.” He offered a still slightly starstruck you his hand and helped you to your feet.

The fabric door was lifted open. As soon as Edward saw the look on your face he sighed. “She looks like she's seen a ghost. You were teasing her weren't you?”

“On the contrary, she was teasing me.” Still smiling at his success, Joshua placed his hat back on your head and walked away with you. “On second thought, you're right, it does look better on you.”
