“I'm pretty sure when I left a minute ago, there was one of you begging me to be the next player because it was too dark out and you needed to get to bed. It was really annoying, but I promised that person that she could go next.” Ranulf turned towards the group and stared at you with bright, glowing eyes. “That was you, wasn't it?”

While you knew his eyes were only glowing due to the reflection of the fire, the sight caused you to shiver slightly. “Yes, it was, and just so you know, your eyes are a little scary at night. You might not want to look directly towards any light sources for a while. You might creep someone out.” Weary of what might be in store for you, you slowly made your way to the front and reached into the barrel. “There's nothing dangerous in here, is there?” Before anyone had a chance to answer your question, you whipped your hand out of the barrel, clutching on to thick leather belt. “Oh, it's just a belt. I thought a snake had gotten inside somehow.”

As Ranulf tried hard not to laugh at you, Eliwood rose to his feet and proudly walked over to you. “I highly doubt a snake could make its way into the barrel without someone noticing. There are a lot us here, and I'm sure someone would have seen it slither inside.” He reclaimed his item from you, and while walking towards the tent began to refasten his belt.

“Hey, wait for me. I don't want to walk in the dark all alone.” You latched onto his arm and continued on to the tent. Once there, you reluctantly let go and sat down inside. “I'm glad someone had the forethought to build a fire over here as well. It would be really spooky without any light.”

“I don't mean this in an offensive way, but you seem to be frightened by quite a lot.” Sitting down next to you, Eliwood let out a quiet sigh. “First it was Ranulf's eyes, then my belt, and now the dark.” He raised his hand in front of his mouth and tried to hide the fact that he was chuckling. “Tell me, how did someone so fearful ever join our company.”

“That's a pretty long story, but you're right if you don't think I belong here. I'd be better off in some remote village than I would here. But then again, I wouldn't want it too remote. There would need to be at least enough people there to help if something terrible happened.”

Eliwood looked at you in disbelief. “I doubt I've ever met someone as fearful as you in all of my life. Living each day must be quite a chore for you.” A weak, tired looking smile appeared on his face, but quickly faded away. “I'm only listening to your fears and I'm growing exhausted.”

“Oh come now, I'm really not scared of everything.” The fact that he seemed disappointed in your cowardly attitude caused a nervous, embarrassed blush to cover your already hot cheeks. “I'm just more cautions than most people are. And since being this cautions has kept me alive, I don't see any reason why I should change.”

Relaxing to a more comfortable position, he shook his head and once again began to speak. “I'm not saying you should. Howbeit, if you don't change at lest a small amount, you'll always be more cautious than necessary.”

“Oh.” A little confused as to why he considered being overly careful a flaw, you moved a bit closer to him and gently urged him to explain himself. “Is that a bad thing?”

“Not necessarily.” He shrugged, giving him a nonchalant, uninterested appearance. “I suppose that really depends on you. While it's important to be careful, you could actually worry yourself to death. Also, I can't see how your life could be all that full if you're hiding from everything. Most things worth doing hold some danger.”

“I see. When you put it that way, it does make an awful lot of sense actually.” You twisted your mouth to the side and bit this inside of your lip as you thought. “I guess I should worry less and have more fun while I have the chance.” Agreeing with yourself, you gave a firm nod. “That's exactly what I'll do, and I'll start right now.” Giving him no warning or time to react, you threw your arms around his shoulders and awkwardly kissed him on the cheek. Once you felt that the kiss had lasted long enough, you dropped back down and smiled brightly. “I don't know about you, but I'd say the first step went pretty smoothly.”

Eliwood looked at you and raised a brow as the corner of his mouth began to twitch up into a entertained smile. “That was your first step?”

Before you had a chance to answer, Ranulf entered the tent. “Well now, what do we have here? It looks you managed to change her entire outlook on life, and in only seven minutes.” He chuckled. “You should think about becoming a motivational speaker. Think of all the kisses you'd get.”

Eliwood is my favorite FE character... and I think you portrayed him well. Kind, laid back, understanding... I really enjoyed this one. ^-^
