“Who wants to play next?” Yuffie stood in the middle of the room waiting for someone to answer her. “Well, does no one want to play or what? Fine sheesh, I'll pick then.” She ran up to you and pulled you up to the middle of the room. “Okay, go ahead and pick out an item.”
You placed your hand inside the hat Yuffie held out for you and felt around for a moment. Something cold, round and hard touched your fingertips. Figuring that item was as good as any, you lifted it from the hat. “Oh, shiny.” The item you chose was a gold coin, you didn't recognize the markings on it.
“That's mine actually. Found it in a temple I... investigated once.” Balthier walked up to you with a smug smile on his face. “If you'd like you can keep it. That currency isn't in circulation anymore. So it really has no use to me.”
“Well that's really nice, give her a worthless gift,” Yuffie sighed as she walked over to the closet. “At least it's pretty I guess.” She opened up the closet door and signaled you both in with a waving motion of her arm. “In you go, hurry it along.” You and Balthier walked into the closet and found a spot on the closet floor. “Okay, I will see you two in seven minutes. Balthier, no being a pirate, be decent while you're in here.” Yuffie stared Balthier down as she shut the door.
“No being a pirate? What do you suppose she meant by that?” He scratched his temple, a confused look on his face. “There's nothing in here worth stealing.” Balthier shrugged and leaned against the wall of the closet.
“I'm in here. I'm pretty sure I'm worth stealing.” You gave a feigned pout as you crossed your arms.
“Oh, I'm very sure you are.” Balthier smiled and stroked his chin. “I just highly doubt I'd need to steal you is all. Most girls do love adventures. And my life is filled with just that, one adventure after another. I could tell you about them sometime if you'd like.” He smoothly wrapped an arm around your shoulders and brought you a bit closer to him.
“Sure, that would be neat.” You blushed a bit as he twirled your loose hair between his fingers. “I've never been on any adventures, so hearing about some would be nice.”
“Never been on an adventure? Well that won't do now will it?” Balthier thought for a moment before speaking again. “I've changed my mind. I think you should experience the adventure for yourself, first hand.” He moved in front of you, almost as if he was sizing you up. “You seem sturdy enough. But you'd better not get in my way.” He gave you an impish smile. “Do we gave a deal?” Balthier held out his hand, waiting for your answer.
Ignoring his outstretched hand, you immediately tackled Balthier into a hug. “Yes, it's a deal, I won't get in your way, I promise.” You squeezed him tighter as your happiness increased.
Yuffie opened the door as Balthier was helping you up. “Guess you guy are ready to get out of here huh?” She flicked the light on, blinding you both and moved out of the way so you could pass. “You know most people want more time, he didn't go Sky pirate on you did he?”
“Everything’s fine Yuffie. You worry too much.” Balthier smiled at her and ruffled up her hair. “You should go get the next couple now, they're waiting.” As Yuffie walked off grumbling about her hair, Balthier led you over to Fran. “Fran, I've recruited us a bit of help, I hope you don't mind.”
Fran seemed indifferent about you coming along with them. “It's all the same to me, just so long as she doesn't get in my way. Once I release my arrow I can't stop it. She'll need to be careful with us, it's no game, the life we live.”
“Yes, I know that. We can explain more to her on the way.” Balthier took your hand in his, giving the back of your hand a little kiss. “Shall we head out? You have much to learn about this new life.”
