Some time far past midnight, you woke from your sound sleep. With the reason you had woken up a mystery, you snuggled back into bed and tried once more to rest. A cool breeze from the open window swept through the room, bringing with it all the smells of the night. Just as you began to drift, you heard a noise. “Who's there?” There was no moon tonight, making your room pitch black. Afraid that the intruder wasn't just an animal, you began throwing everything on your bed in the direction of the noise.

“Ouch. Hey be careful, it's only me. Stop throwing stuff.” A bright blue light appeared from nowhere, showing the face of your guest. “Thanks Navi, wait until after I get hit with a book to come out of my hat. I could have used the light a little earlier.”

“Link? What are you doing here? It's late, you should be asleep.” Without the moon, it was almost impossible to tell the time of night.

“I know, but there is this thing I really want to show you. I don't know if we'll get another chance.” Link pressed his hands together as if praying. He whimpered quietly and gave you a pitiful, begging look. “Please?”

“Fine, but I'm not getting out of my pajamas for this. It's too late and as soon as you show me whatever it is, I'm heading back to bed.” You begrudgingly pushed off your blankets and slid out of bed onto your feet. After stretching to get your blood flowing again, you walked outside your house. “You're going to have to lead the way. I don't know where we're going.”

“I know you don't” Link took your hand in his and smiled. “I was just going to see how long it took you to realize that.”

You slowly turned your head and squinted your eyes at him. “Don't push me Link, I'm tired and cranky. I can just turn around a go back to sleep.”

“Fine, fine, I’m sorry.” He rubbed the outside of your hand with his thumb and began to lead the way. Walking with only the small amount of light Navi gave off, you found yourself walking into a small, well hidden burrow.

“How do you find places like this?” Still holding tightly to Link's hand, you squeezed yourself through the narrow opening. “You didn't make it yourself did you?” The walls around you slowly grew wider until you and link could walk side by side comfortably.

“I didn't make it,  I did however get rid of the boulder that was hiding it. You know I enjoy exploding things.” Link gave you an impish grin, then quickly turned towards Navi. “Hey Navi, could you fly ahead and make sure everything's the same?”

“I'm on it Link.” With a quick fluttering of her wings, she disappeared.

Navi now gone, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. “I'm not so sure sending Navi away was the best thing to do. We're just going to hurt ourselves in this darkness. Maybe, we should just stay here until she gets back.”

“No, we'll be okay.” Link rustled around for a second, then pulled out a lantern and quickly caught fire to the wick. “See, I'm always prepared.”

You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “I am really glad you have a light source on hand besides Navi. But why didn't you use that earlier? It would have made things a lot easier. Especially when we were squeezing through the entrance.”

Link laughed. “I forgot I had it. I've gotten so used to Navi being my only source of light, so I didn't think about you not being able to see. I'm sorry.” There was a small bend in the path. As you followed it, you could see light. The closer you got, the brighter the light shined. “We're getting close  now.”

Ivy hung down from the ceiling of the borrow, creating a barrier, or door between you, and the light. Upon reaching it, Link just stopped. “What's wrong? Can we not go inside?”

“N-no, we can. I was just, giving your eyes time to adjust to the light.” He reached for the ivy, slowly pulling it aside and revealing the hidden room.

Fairies of all colors drifted through the large room, leaving behind glittering trails of fairy dust. “I-it's a fairy fountain? Am I even allowed to be in here? I thought only the holders of the triforce were allowed to enter these.”

“Well normally you'd be right, but the Great Fairy isn't here right now. So it's okay.” Link drew in a deep breath. “So, was it worth getting out of bed to see this?”

You looked around at the large pillars than ran from the floor to the ceiling, covered in an carved intricately with a long forgotten language. Over head was flowering ivy, filling the room with a sweet, clean scent. Everything about this room was perfect. “I think I'd skip sleeping for a month to see this. I'm sorry I was so grouchy before.” You hugged him happily.

“That's okay, as long as you like it. I'd put up with your grouchiness forever.” Link returned your hug, then slowly turned you around to face a small group of fairies. “Watch.” As the fairies grew closer, you could see they were carrying something. It was a miniature treasure chest. No bigger than a child’s hand. “Open it.”

“Okay.” You nervously reached out for the chest. As soon as you touched it, the fairies dispersed. You lifted the small latch on the front of the chest and lifted the lid. It contained exactly what you thought it would. A ring. You'd never seen one like this before. It was beautiful, and well crafted, but you could tell there was something else unique. Still in shock, you only managed to speak one word. “L-Link.”

“Yes?” He wrapped his arms around your waist, and rested his chin on your shoulder. There was a lump in your throat, preventing you from speaking. “What's the matter, Bulblin got your tongue?”

Quickly spinning around in his arms you shook your head. “No, y-you're asking me to.”

Link cut you off. “Marry me?” He smiled adorably. “I am.”

You pressed your face to his chest, burying it there. “How are you so calm? I'm ready to faint, and you're just standing there with that goofy smile of yours.”

“I've been planning this for a long time. I was nervous every time I saw for a while.” He ran his fingers through your hair. “I guess I waited so long, the fear disappeared.” He lifted your chin up from his chest. “You still haven't answered me yet. Will you be my Princess?” You gave your answer in the form of a nod.

Before there was a chance to celebrate, Navi buzzed in between you. “Quick, the Great Fairy's going to be back any second.”

Link quickly grabbed you by the hand and began running out of the burrow. “Our first adventure together. That didn't take very long did it.” He was beaming. “Hopefully we'll have many, many more to come.”
