“I don't get how you score such high marks on your tests anyway, it's just ridiculous, not cool at all.” Soul dropped the video game controller and fall down onto his back.

“It's because I actually study Soul. I don't waste all my time on video games like some people do. Now put that game up and get your books. I'm not going to wait all day to help you study.” You dropped your books on his desk with a loud thud and pulled up a chair for yourself.

“Right, I'll be right over. I'm almost through with this level. I haven’t beaten it before so just give me a minute.” Soul mashed his fingers on the buttons of the video game controller trying desperately to defeat his opponent. “Come on just a little more.” He had been saying that for a while now. You didn't mind waiting a little while, but it had been almost a half hour now.

“Soul, it's really been long enough. If you haven't beaten him yet you should probably spend more time level grinding before you try again.” You leaf your seat and stood in front of the TV. “Now come on already.” Soul jest moved his body to the side and continued playing.

“Seriously man, standing in front of the TV is not cool at all. I can't see anything.” Soul signaled you to move as he continued his battle.

“I didn't want to have to do this Soul, but you've really left me no choice.” You wrapped your fingers around the black power cord and prepared to pull.

“You wouldn't dare.” Soul glared at you, but never stopped mashing the buttons. “I will kill you if you don't get your hand away from that cord.”

With one swift, fluid motion, you pulled the cord from the outlet, erasing whatever progress Soul had made. “You should have saved. Now let's get to work.”

“Do you have any idea how long I've been playing?” His eye twitched. “Do you know how long it's going to take me to redo everything I just lost because if you?” You had never seen Soul quite as angry as he seemed to be right now. Slowly, you backed away from the TV, making your way to the door. “Don't even think about leaving now.” Soul jumped at you, knocking you to the floor and rolling you around until he had you flat on your back. He held your arms above you and stared down at you angrily. “Well, do you?”

“Soul calm down it's just a game, and you really need to study. I'm sorry I turned it off okay?” You cringed under him.

“No, it's really not okay.” Soul sighed, obviously upset. “But I should have just paused my game.” His eye twitched again. “Then you wouldn't have had to turn it off and I wouldn't have lost everything I worked so hard for.” He slowly moved off of you and walked towards the desk. “Guess this makes everything my fault. Man that really isn't cool.”

“Well, if you work as hard at studying as you do at video games, this shouldn't take very long at all. Then you can get right back to playing.” You took your seat next to him and opened up your text book.

“Dude, no way that's going to happen. There's nothing cool about studying. Video games are enjoyable, so working hard at them is actually fun.” Soul followed your lead and opened up his text book. “Oh, man, not this stuff. We're going to be here all night.” He dropped his head to the desk.

“It won't if you actually try and stop complaining about it. Let's see if we can make this fun somehow.” You thought for a moment. After taking a minute to explain your idea to Soul he agreed. You would find a way to relate everything you did to video games. Though you thought your idea was pretty lame, it seemed to be working. Soul seemed pretty focused and almost a bit enthusiastic.

“Finished, check it out.” Soul handed you his completed work, and after looking over it, you were surprised to see that it was all right. “Not bad huh?”

“Soul, you got every single question on here right. Why don't you normally do work like this? You'd make even Tsubaki jealous.” You wondered if your idea had really helped this much.

“That's easy. I had no idea what I was doing before.” He smiled. “But mostly I was just afraid if I got anything wrong you'd take my video games away.”
