"Well now, that's the first turn of many more finished. Now all we need is another player to keep things going." Almost as if he could sense your willingness to play, Saint Germain turned his attention to you. Smiling softly, he waved you towards him. "You seem like you're ready. Please, be my guest."
"Yes!" Scrambling out of your seat so quickly, you almost fell forward, you rushed to the center of the room and immediately began searching for an item. It was only seconds before you were holding a small silver cross in your hand. "I know who this belongs to." A little worried that you and the owner of this item might not be a good match, you somewhat timidly approached Van Helsing. "Looks like you and I are going to be partnered for the next seven minutes."
"Obviously." Snatching back his possession, Van Helsing rose to his feet in a huff. After tucking the cross into his pocket, he continued to the closet without another word.
“Wait up. You can't play the game alone.” Hurrying after him, you entered the closet and carefully shut the door behind you. “Well, actually, I guess you could play it alone if you really wanted to. I don't know why you'd want to play it alone.” As you took a seat in front of him, you continued to talk, more to yourself than to your partner. “Especially since it would make you look like a weirdo. And it would be really boring.”
Sighing, Van Helsing interrupted your chatter. “I never said I wanted to play alone.” Loosely crossing his arms over his chest, he quietly scoffed. “Actually, for that matter, I never said I wanted to play at all.”
His words sounded more than a little bit rude, but you knew he was just being honest with you. He had made his lack of interest in this game perfectly clear, even before the first turn started. Still, he was your partner and this was the only turn you were going to get. That meant that you were going to make sure something happened, no matter what it took. “True, but here you are anyway.”
“I wasn't given much choice.” After his short, dry response, Van Helsing went quiet.
“Yeah, I guess that's also true.” The more time that past, the more difficult things seemed to be. If you didn't do something soon, it might be too late. As you sat there in an awkward silence, an idea hit you. “So since you never agreed to play, I won't ask you to do anything at all. You can just sit there with your arms crossed and leave everything to me.”
Van Helsing shook his head at your suggestion. “Why would I agree to that?
“Why wouldn't you agree to it?” Frowning slightly you started to inch yourself closer and closer to him. “Don't you trust me at all?”
“No, not really.” Face completely expressionless, he snorted.
“Oh, well, at least your not sugar coating it.” His bluntness caused a wave of nervousness to wash over you, but you quickly managed to force it aside. “It doesn't matter though, because I'm still going to do it because someone around here has to do something.” Not about to let him refuse or even try to stop you, you lunged yourself at him, wrapping your arms tightly around his shoulders and pressing your lips to his. Though Van Helsing was understandably surprised by your actions, he didn't try to stop you. Though you couldn't see him, his cheeks felt warm, hinting to the fact that he just might be blushing. The very idea of someone like him blushing was enough to make you smile. As tough and stern as he acted, he was no match for something as simple as a kiss.
Without giving any sort of warning at all, the door suddenly creaked open and a stream of light flooded the tiny closet, bringing your short embrace to an end. “Oh my, it seems I should have knocked first.” Chuckling to himself, Saint Germain gave the door a gentle tap. “Your time is up.” With a smile, he turned around and left the two of you alone once more.
“See, that wasn't so bad, was it?” Blushing slightly due to the fact that Saint Germain had caught you red handed, you pulled away from Van Helsing and stood to your feet. “I bet you're glad now that you let me take charge.”
“I don't know what you're talking about.” As if he was in a hurry for some reason, Van Helsing got up and immediately strutted out of the closet. He stopped just long enough to utter a single sentence before not only leaving the closet, but the house entirely. “I never agreed to any that.”

Humoresque (Arthur Conan Doyle x Reader)
Humoresque (noun): a short, lively piece of music
The lively trill of a violin draws people to the street corner, the sweet sound rising and falling in the cool evening air of Paris at night. The woman playing the violin is lovely for sure, and if this had been a few weeks ago, Arthur wouldn't have hesitated to make a move and flirt her into allowing him to take a bite. This isn't a few weeks ago though, and his romantic outlook is considerably different now.
For one thing, his blue eyes don't linger on the woman, shifting to observe your reaction and the delighted smile that appears on your face. He loves that smile. He's told you that bef

The chocolate truffles have solidified into perfect balls, so you roll them in cocoa powder to finish their presentation. You have about twenty of them, so you place one on the center of your tongue, letting it melt in your mouth. Content with the taste, you place them in a glass bowl to give them to Lancelot. You blush at the idea that he would be eating your desserts in a few minu
